MANODARPAN – an initiative by Ministry of Education (MOE),
Government of India (GOI) aims to provide psychosocial support for
mental health and well-being of students during the COVID outbreak
and beyond. A webpage has been created on the website of the
The outbreak of COVID pandemic has presented a challenging time for
everyone around the world. The ensuing lockdown due to
pandemic, including closure of educational institutions, uncertainty due
to postponement/cancellation of exams, adapting to online teaching-
learning, future admissions/career decisions etc. are some of the
concerns of students, teachers and parents. These challenging times
brought situations such as: sense of isolation, no social / play time,
family income/unemployment fears, death in family, behavioral issues in
family, fear of the disease, exam results, changes in teaching and
learning, difficulties in learning, etc. leading to a stressful time for all.
Manodarpan initiative intends at bridging the gap between home and
school by building an understanding of new “normal”, and facilitates
peer support, being positive, encouraging online learning, life skills to
become resilient, caring, responsible independent learner, etc. during
Covid-19 pandemic and beyond.
Manodarpan initiative was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister for Education on 21 st July, 2020 and since then has been addressing the needs of students, teachers and family through its several activities.
National Toll-free Helpline (8448440632) has been set up to provide tele-counselling to students across schools, colleges and universities and their parents and teachers to address their mental health and psychosocial issues.
Series of Webinars and discussion sessions ‘Paricharcha’ are held under
the Manodarpan initiative to reach out to students and all stakeholders
with the aim to create awareness about mental health and well-being
concerns and ways of dealing/coping with them. It provides a platform
for all to seek psychosocial support from experts in the field of mental
health, counsellors , psychologists and educationists .
‘Sahyog’ live interactive sessions are held every day for students(classes VI-XII) from 5-5:30 pm on PM e-vidya channel with the focus on providing guidance for promoting mental well-being among students.
Manodarpan initiative is part of the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan.
